Our greatest goal is to give you the healthy, straight, beautiful smile that you've always wanted. The best way to achieve an ideal result is to evaluate your specific orthodontic situation and develop a custom plan so we can start your orthodontic treatment at the ideal time. We understand that choosing to receive orthodontic care is a big decision, and we respect your reasons for wanting to improve the way you look and feel. Our practice will work with you every step of the way to make sure that your orthodontic care is as rewarding as possible. Our practice utilizes the latest technology, offering a variety of safe and gentle treatment options to give you the customized, individual care you deserve.
Every smile starts with a FREE initial consultation!
Your initial consultation will give you the opportunity to meet our team, learn more about orthodontics, receive a complete initial exam, and find out which treatment options will best meet your needs. During your initial consultation, we will:
- Review your dental and medical history forms (see below to print out your form)
- Provide a complete oral exam, with X-rays and photos, to determine if treatment is necessary
- Help you create a customized treatment plan
- Discuss all financial information, insurance options, and payment plans
We minimize the use of impressions and spacers in your treatment plan to make your orthodontic experience as enjoyable as possible. Our team will be glad to answer any questions you may have, and we will provide all of the information that you need to determine which treatment is right for you. Please contact our practice to schedule your initial consultation.
Please take a minute to print and fill out the patient information form before your first appointment and bring your form with you to your first appointment:

What happens after the initial consultation?
You're one step closer to achieving the smile you've always wanted! If this is the ideal time to start orthodontic treatment, we will schedule your first appointment and our team will place your new orthodontic appliances (braces, etc). This appointment generally takes from one to two hours, and during this time our team will be available to make sure that you are as comfortable as possible. Be sure to ask for one of our blankets, if you need one while your appliances are being placed!
If future orthodontic treatment will be needed, but now is not the ideal time to start treatment you will be placed on our Recall/Observation Program. Dr. Rice wants to closely monitor the eruption of the remaining permanent teeth. Recall appointments will be scheduled every 6-12 months depending on your unique situation. There is no charge for your Recall visits while permanent teeth are erupting so you will have the peace of mind of knowing your orthodontic needs are being addressed and closely monitored.
Orthodontic adjustments lasting 20-30 minutes every 6 to 10 weeks are an important part of your orthodontic treatment. Our practice will work with you to make sure that your appointments are as convenient as possible. Our normal office hours are Monday through Thursday from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM. When scheduling appointments, please let us know what days and times work best for you.
We make every effort to be on time for our patients and ask that you extend the same courtesy to us. We understand that “life happens”! If you're running late or need to reschedule, please let us know as soon as possible and we will do everything we can to accommodate you. Please do not cancel your appointment unless absolutely necessary since the majority of open appointment slots are normally filled 6-10 weeks in advance. If you miss your regular appointment, we will need to re-schedule you as soon as possible to prevent extending your original treatment time. NOTE: Missed appointments without quickly rescheduling will extend your treatment time. When you're ready to schedule your first appointment, contact our practice and our friendly scheduling coordinator will assist you. We're looking forward to working with you.
Visiting the dentist during orthodontic treatment
It is very important that you continue to visit your family dentist once every six months, even during your orthodontic treatment, for teeth cleanings and routine dental checkups. If extra dental care is needed, we will be happy to coordinate with your family dentist to make sure that you are receiving the best care possible. As an incentive to regularly visit your dentist, we will give you tokens that you can redeem for cool prizes on our Cooperation Prize wheel (See our contests and events page)
